Help & FAQ

Common questions about GreenRoomGigs. Tap one to open it.

How do I create or claim a band?

Create a band. Go to Create a band (in the More menu, or from the band switcher). Search for your band's name first, so you don't start a second copy of a band that's already here. If nothing matches, fill in the band details and save. You become the band's leader, and the band is yours to set up. Playing alone? Tick This is a solo act and the name defaults to yours.

Claim a band that's already here. If your band shows up in the search, tap This is my band: ask to join and add a short message if you like. Someone in the band gets the request on their dashboard and can let you in or decline. You can also skip the request: ask a bandmate for an invite link or QR code, and when you open it you join that band (you'll sign up first if you're new).

You have to be 18 or older to use GreenRoomGigs, and a band leader confirms the band is all adults before they can invite people.

How do I switch between bands?

How do I invite someone to my band?

In Band settings, use Invite to get a one-time link or QR code for your band. When they open it, they join your band. The link stops working once it's used.

Want a friend on GreenRoomGigs without joining your band? Use Invite friends instead.

How does availability work?

On the Calendar, tap a day to mark yourself available or not available (with a reason if you like). Thin amber bars on a day mean that person already has something with another band then (morning, afternoon or evening).

Can I add notes only I can see?

Yes. On a setlist, add a note to the whole setlist (top of the page) or to a song (under the song) and tick ๐Ÿ”’ Just for me. Only you see it, in the editor and in your Show Mode. Each note has โœ๏ธ to edit and ๐Ÿ—‘ to delete.

How do I plan a surprise for a bandmate?

When you add an event or a Todo item, open ๐Ÿคซ Make it a surprise and pick who it's secret from. They won't see it anywhere until the day after their birthday (or the date you choose).

Can I log in with my email instead of my username?

Yes. The login screen accepts your username or your email address. Your nickname is just what bandmates call you, so it can't be used to sign in.

Check my username & email

Can I change what I'm notified about, or the buttons at the bottom?

Yes to both. Notification settings let you turn categories on or off. On a phone, you can pick and order the four buttons in the bottom bar.

How do pop-up notifications work?

Go to Notifications and tap "Turn on pop-up notifications", then allow the browser's permission prompt. This is per-device โ€” you'll need to turn it on separately on each phone or computer you use GreenRoomGigs from.

๐Ÿค– Android (phone or tablet)

Works right away. The browser or GreenRoomGigs doesn't need to be open for a notification to arrive.

๐ŸŽ iPhone / iPad

You have to add GreenRoomGigs to your Home Screen through Safari's Share menu first, then open it from that home-screen icon at least once โ€” then turn pop-ups on. A regular Safari tab (or Chrome on iPhone, which uses the same engine as Safari) can't receive them at all; that's an Apple rule, not something we can change. Needs iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or newer.

๐Ÿ’ป Mac & Windows desktop

Works in a normal browser tab (Safari or Chrome). The browser just needs to be running in the background โ€” it doesn't have to be the window you're looking at, but fully quitting it pauses notifications until you reopen it.

Tapped "Block" by mistake? We can't ask again โ€” turn it back on for the site in your browser's own notification settings. And however you get them, pop-ups follow your device's Do Not Disturb / Focus mode the same as any other app.

Something looks wrong or broken. How do I report it?

Send a quick report straight to the team. Say what you were doing and what you expected. Fixes show up in What's new.

Add GreenRoomGigs to your phone's home screen

GreenRoomGigs works like an app when you save it to your home screen: full-screen, no browser bars.

๐ŸŽ iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Open GreenRoomGigs in Safari (not Chrome or Firefox).
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen. It looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.
  3. Scroll down the share sheet and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Give it a name ("GreenRoomGigs" works), then tap Add in the top-right corner.
  5. The icon appears on your home screen. Tap it to open in full-screen mode.

๐Ÿค– Android (Chrome)

  1. Open GreenRoomGigs in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install app". The label varies by Android version.
  4. Tap Add when prompted.

The phone's own Share or โ‹ฎ menu has to do this step, so there's no button for it here.
